GOLF IN MT WASHINGTON VALLEY

Mt. Washington Valley, NH – There are nine North Conway Golf courses offering a wide range of experiences on more than 135 holes throughout the Mt. Washington Valley, all offering tee times to the public. Each course offers its own distinctive challenge and scenic appeal. Starting from the North, the impressive Mountain View Grand offers golfers a challenging mountain course with natural terrain features and impeccable playing conditions. Currently in the works is a project to extend the course to full 18 holes.

In Jackson, you’ll be greeted by the eighteen-hole Wentworth Golf Course offing a pro shop and putting green. Lodging associated with this resorts offer both golf packages and fabulous meals to compliment your day on the course. If you continue into Gorham, you’ll come to two intriguing courses, Androscoggin Valley Country Club and Waumbek Country Club in Jefferson. Both offer 18-hole courses that have been established for over 85 years, with Waumbek New Hampshire’s oldest course. If you’re looking for stellar views of the Presidential ranges, along with challenging and entertaining courses Androscoggin Valley Country Club and Waumbek Country Club are two excellent choices.  In Bretton Woods you’ll find two courses set within dramatic scenery at the Mount Washington Resort – an 18 hole course and a nine hole course.

Continuing into North Conway, you find Hales Location Golf Course, described by Golf Magazine as “One of the most unique and singularly beautiful golf developments in the country”. This nine hole course is considered one of the most challenging in the Valley’s collection. Next, the North Conway Country Club, established in 1895, has provided an enjoyable golf experience in Mt Washington Valley for over 100 years. One round on this course speaks for itself…the views of Mt Washington and the Presidential and Moat Ranges will leave you speechless. Finally, in the southern part of Mt. Washington Valley, you’ll find Indian Mound Golf Course, in Center Ossipee. Here, architect Phil Wogan presents a challenging par 70 golf course with a relatively level front nine, and gentle rolling terrain back on the back nine. It is well groomed and player friendly. The road to the links ends in the southern part of the Valley at Province Lake Golf Course in Parsonsfield, NH. Province Lake Golf is an 18 hole — 6279 yard course, with the crystal clear Province Lake as the focal point, visible from fourteen of the holes on the course. The surrounding woods create a sound buffer imparting a “quiet” rarely found these days.

North Conway Country Club, White Mountain Hwy, North Conway Located right in the center of North Conway, this 18-hole public golf club is one of the area’s first courses. Boasting scenic views of Mt. Washington and the Moat Mountains, this is a favorite course for many residents and visitors. A full pro shop and retail store, along with a restaurant offering one of the best decks in town, the North Conway Country Club is a clear choice. Wentworth Golf Course, Jackson At the Wentworth Golf Club, scenic beauty and competitive play combine for a truly enjoyable golf experiences. This impeccably maintained 18-hole course is open to the public and groups are welcome. The course winds throughout the village of Jackson, NH, along both the Wildcat and Ellis Rivers, taking in such New England characteristics as covered bridge cart paths and more. Hales Location Golf Course, North Conway This Albert Zicorus designed public course offers 9 holes of challenging and scenic golf. Located adjacent to the White Mountain Hotel, this is one of Mt. Washington Valley’s most challenging courses. Tees are elevated, and there are 39 bunkers throughout the course. The views of Mt. Washington Valley are spectacular from each and every hole. Province Lake Golf Club, Effingham This semi-private 18 hole golf course offers 4 sets of tees from 4,230 to 6,270 yards in length. This Par 71 course offers a challenging, but not punishing game of golf. The 300 yard driving range and putting greens are open daily. Private lessons and group clinics are available with a PGA/LPGA professional. Lunch is served in the beautiful new club house, which is also available for private functions. Mountainview Country Club, Whitefield Offers a 9 hole golf course in an unmatched scenic setting at the newly-restored Mountainview Grand Hotel in Whitefield, NH. This course and clubhouse has been recently renovated with a clubhouse offering an outdoor pool, children’s playground and lunch. All open to the public with the purchase of a day pass. Indian Mound Country Club, Ossipee An 18 hole course in Ossipee. The back nine was recently added offering local favorites. Holes 4,5, and 6 are picturesque and popular. This 72 par course is challenging yet forgiving. The pro shop was recently expanded and the club house has been completely renovated over the past few years. Androscoggin Valley Country Club, Gorham Open May 1 to November 1st, this course’s fairways are wide and tree lined, and water hazards come into play on seven holes. Horace Smith designed the back nine several years after the original nine opened. This is a public course, and tee times are required. Call (603)466-9468 for rates and tee times.

Waumbek Country Club, Jefferson, NH: New Hampshire’s oldest golf course, built in 1895. A Scottish link style course featuring small sloping greens with spectacular views of the Presidential range. Open April 1 – November 30. There is an on-site restaurant, full service pro-shop, and practice area with two putting greens. The first hole offers a magnificent view of the entire Presidental Range.
